Built on the STRONG framework and the Five Protective Factors this program reaches all populations and demographics, teaches and trains them with skills that strengthen bonds within families, and sends them into the community, prepared with the strategies needed to build a healthier family unit, reducing stress, and advancing hope.
AS PART OF OUR FAMILY STRENGTHENING EDUCATION PROGRAM WE OFFER:
CURRICULUM
Courses are provided to adults and children with additional workshops. Classes for adults and teens are built on the STRONG framework, promoting the Five Protective Factors. Children’s programming is provided during in-person adult classes and parallels adult curriculum allowing parents to put into practice the strategies and skills learned. All courses are offered free of charge.
Family Resiliency Course
ADULTS

Aimed at reducing stress in families and encouraging healthy bonds

Classes offered in-person and virtually

Topics include: Coping and Managing Stress, Attachment and Healthy Relationships, Child Development and the Importance of Play, and Peaceful Parenting

Recipients receive a certificate of completion for successful course completion

In-person courses have volunteer facilitated childcare available for infants and toddlers. All of our volunteers have been vetted and received criminal history checks.
TEENS

5 for 5 program: 5 topics for 5 weeks

Topics include: Self-Esteem and Resilience Actions/Consequences, Healthy Relationships and Boundaries, Emotional Awareness, Communication, and various life skills.
CHILDREN

CONCRETE RESOURCES
Families cannot thrive without having concrete resources easily accessible. Family Strengthening Education Program provides participants with resources throughout the duration of the course. These may include:

For ‘Participant Type’ enter yourself as ‘Primary’ and each of your children as ‘Child’.

If your spouse is signing up for a course, enter them as ‘Primary’. If your spouse is wanting to come to events, receive resources, or pop into a class here and there, please enter them as ‘Secondary’.

Even if your child is not participating in our children’s course, they still need to be enrolled. This is needed for grant purposes, as well as providing your family with resources.

You will need to fill out a separate form for each person being enrolled.

Once you have finished enrolling the required individuals, please email enroll@familyadvocates.org the names of each person to ensure your family is placed in the same household. (Questions can also be emailed to this same address.)
